Respect for the Environment REDUCING OUR IMPACTS IS A PRIORITY Mining and fertilizer manufacturing are intensive endeavors. Resource extraction, consumption of materials, generation of emissions in operations and water use are all necessary to fulfilling our mission of helping the world grow the food it needs. We know that respect for the environment, and those who rely on it, is essential to the sustainability of our business—and we are committing significant resources to reducing our impacts and improving our use of shared resources. Here’s a glimpse into the environmental issues most important to us and what we’re doing to reduce our impacts.

It is also a critical resource for society, including the communities and ecosystems in which we operate. Climate change poses risks to the health and wellbeing of the society, and it creates risk for our business. Air quality is an important issue for communities around our operations. We have a responsibility to minimize impacts to land and biodiversity that occur because of our activities, and to enable the protection and conservation of land and soil resources.
